What is the difference between a polish and a wax? A pure Meguiar's polish such as the Deep Crystal Step 2 - Polish is a blend of oils that are absorbed by your paintwork in the same way that your skin absorbs a moisturiser. The polishing oils will create a deep wet-look gloss to your paint work but will not offer any protection. The gloss can be sealed and your paintwork protected with the application of a wax such as Deep Crystal Step 3 - Carnauba Wax. Alternatively you can use either Gold Class Clear Coat Wax or NXT Generation Tech Wax which combines' polish and wax in one easy application.
How often should I use a 'Paint Cleaner' ? It's important to deep clean your paintwork at least twice a year. This will remove light oxidation's, minor staining, light scratches and the inevitable build up of waxes and silicones. After the application of Deep Crystal Step 1 - Paint Cleaner followed by Deep Crystal Step 2 and then followed by Deep Crystal Step 3, your paintwork will look richer and the gloss much more deeper in colour.
How much product should I use ? When applying a cleaner, polish or wax, imagine that you are rubbing moisturiser etc onto your skin you should only use what your skin can absorb, the same applies to your paintwork you should only apply what the surface can absorb at any one time. Applying to much will dry as excess residue, which in essence is just a waste. Most users have found that Meguiar's product's to be a lot more richer and easier to work with than those they have used before.
What is ESP ? ESP is Engineered Synthetic Polymers. Meguiar's ESP technology creates a tough polymer bond to your paint so that it can provide extreme protection. ESP can be found in Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax Paste and Tech Wax Liquid.
Can I use Meguiar's product's on top of my dealer applied protective coating ? You can use any Meguiar's product's safe in the knowledge that they are compatible with all current dealer applied paint protection systems.
What are the benefits of using a Wash Mitt ? It is the washing process that inflicts most 'swirls' or light circular scratches to your paintwork. This is because tiny little particles can get trapped between the face of a sponge and the surface of your paintwork. By hosing down your paintwork first and using a Wash Mitt with a deep pile, these particles will be absorbed into the pile and will consequently do a lot less damage to your paintwork.
Are dusters and cloths OK for removing residue ? All Meguiar's formulations recommend the use off a 100% Cotton Terry Towel or better still a deep pile Micro fibre Towel for removing product residues. These are far more absorbent then a normal cloth and will therefore deliver a streak-free finish much quicker. A Cotton Towel or Micro fibre Towel will also help to reduce the risk of scratches to your paint surface.
What is Quick Clay ? Quick Clay is a fast and safe way to remove contaminants that have bonded to your paintwork which can not be remove by washing alone. Meguiar's recommends that you tear about 1/3rd of the clay bar off and work it in your hands until soft. Mould the clay into a 5cm disc, spray the Quick Detailer onto clean, dry paintwork and glide the clay through the lubricant using your finger tip's to apply pressure. It will remove all of the bonded contaminants, giving your paintwork a 'smooth as glass' finish.
What paint surface problems should I be looking for ? Above-surface Contaminants ( left to right ) Bird Droppings, Tree Sap, Industrial Fallout, Road Film, Over Spray
Above surface contaminants such as industrial fallout, tree sap and bird lime can be detected by running your finger-tips over your vehicles paintwork after washing and drying. Any 'grittiness' felt can be removed by using Meguiar's Quick Clay or Gold Class Bug and Tar Remover.

Small below-surface imperfections such as oxidation, stains, small marks, scratches can be removed by using Meguiar's Scratch X or DC Step 1 Paint Cleaner giving you a flawless finish prior to polishing and waxing. ( DC = Deep Crystal ) Tree Sap Removal
